A dear friend ask me to create a painting to include in one of his music videos. His name is Pat O'Sullivan and he performs with his longtime friend Geff Phillips. The song is called "I'm Amazed". Check it out.

I've had two careers in my life. In addition to being an artist, I made a change in my thirties to become a computer scientist. I always found programming to be equally creative as my art. I always thought that starting a new program, and staring a blank editor window, is like staring a blank canvas. One thing I've been wanting to do is merge these two fields. So this past week, I decided I would start learning the Go Programming Language and use it to create a program to generate scalable vector graphics files with random shapes and colors. An alpha version of the program is available on GitHub. I'm going to use these images as the basis for a series of abstract paintings.

I have an old book of prints from the French watercolorist, Pierre Vignal, (1855 - 1925). Here are some of his watercolors of Venice.

I always enjoyed these, so I've decided to use some of these prints as inspiration. See here for my first work.

There are numerous museums that have online collections. Many offer downloads of the images as well. These are great resources to for both refreshing your art history knowledge as well as finding inspiration from the past.
